Students can see where their name should go, not go as in outside of the lines and learn more quickly appropriate letter sizing simply because it's a "closed" shape.

There is sufficient practice of the focus letter - 12 times to be exact. It is recommended that you model the letters on the whiteboard first before letting your students try. There are 12 different variations of the writing sheets available! To give teachers maximum flexibility, I have included the sheets with and without guide arrows. The most common way to practice is to start with uppercase and then move onto lowercase letters. The letter tracing sheets are perfect for writing practice!
From the same line come down up to downline make a loop and stop at baseline. From the middle line to the baseline make straight tilt line and then go back from the baseline to the middle line.
At the middle line now make a loop and tuck it. From middle line write letter c in between the middle line and baseline. Either way, skip two lines and write today's date.
Unless you're writing an email, skip another two lines and write the contact information for the person you're writing to. Skip a line again, then greet the recipient with "Dear" followed by their name. You may use the last name, or the full name first and lastbut never the first name alone. Include an abbreviated professional title if applicable. It's usually possible to find the name with an online search, so try that first.
These sound a little stiff and old fashioned, so try to avoid it when possible. Formal letters should open with a clear statement of purpose.
