Since Pandora opened, things have been relatively quiet in the Animal Kingdom. There have been some smaller additions to the park, but nothing E-Ticket. For example, DuckTales character meets have opened up in Dinoland U. A, and our personal favorite, Kevin from UP! There are always rumors about Dinoland U. A getting a re-theme, but nothing has been decided about that at this time, and if so would arrive until or later. We had an amazing time here during our stay, and loved everything from the grounds, to the restaurants and guest amenities. Those are the best two parks for new Disney attractions in and beyond, so staying here puts you close to all the action. The easiest way to get to either of those locations is in fact on the new Disney Skyliner Gondola transportation system.
There are even more new hotels coming in the next couple of years. The Disney World Swan Reserve is going in next to the Swan and Dolphin Resorts and is going to be a high-end, boutique resort aiming at executives and those wanting a luxury resort experience. This should be ready sometime inin time for the 50th Anniversary. The new resort I think practically the whole world is looking forward to most is the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Hotel. This is going to be unlike any other hotel experience in the world when it opens.
Of course, there will be onboard dining and immersive experiences that all help make it feel real. The only question now is if a high-end hotel experience like this is needed given the current economic situation. Early was the opening date, but it will certainly get pushed back, maybe into Reflections: A Disney Lakeside Lodge will bring 1, new hotel rooms on property, and will be first-choice for many wanting to stay near the Magic Kingdom.
The latest rumors however say that Disney has already scrapped the Reflections resort with the concrete being taken up and grass seed planted over the property. What is surprising is that it was one of the only locations on property is disney world fun right now construction was continuing during the closure.
These are the latest new resorts opening in and beyond, and whichever ones end up getting uiblt, sound like they are going to be incredible! Even more new dining options are coming to Disney Springs in Everything, including the appetizers, main courses and desserts totally blew us away. There are rides based on several popular franchises, like Harry Potter and Jurassic Park. This could potentially lead to an awkward and upsetting experience for a child looking to run up and hug Mickey or Minnie. The Universal character interactions were more exciting and engaging. There were many selfie opportunities — like at the new character meet-and-great location for the DreamWorks stars — as well as characters strolling throughout the parks. I had a hard time snagging a Disney dining reservation but ended up finding a walk-up at a resort restaurant. The bread service at Sanaa is famous. But the mobile app was offering a walk-up availability function, which allowed me to check nearby restaurants for available seating.
This can be hit or miss, but I was able to secure a last-minute lunch reservation at Sanaa, a popular restaurant at the Animal Kingdom Lodge.
I also used the app's mobile-order feature to effortlessly pick up drinks at quick-service locations around the property. But some of the more in-demand spots, like Woody's Lunch Box at Hollywood Studios, didn't have available time slots for up to three hours.
I couldn't get a reservation at Universal, and I ended up waiting in long quick-service lines for my meal.
The lines were long and a bit chaotic. Carly Caramanna for Insider Disney's dining-reservation and ordering systems are largely done through its app, but there's no way to book a dining reservation on the Universal mobile app. You have to call or book online. Universal's mobile-ordering system is also flawed, to say the least. The park recently did away with it almost entirely. Quick-service lines were extremely long on my visit, even at beverage and snack stands. To avoid a major headache, I think it's absolutely necessary to eat at off times or outside of the parks entirely.
The festival offered some tasty foods.
